Setting Up Google Analytics

Setting up Google Analytics is made simple with WebPal CMS. Here's how to do it:

  1. Setup and account at Google and get the Analytics "Code Snippet" provided.
  2. In WebPal CMS find the "Settings" node and right-click > insert > container > analytics.
  3. Click on your newly inserted "Analytics" node and paste in the code provided by Google.
  4. You must now re-publish your entire website.

New Feature: Tracking File Downloads

You can now track files being downloaded from your site. Here's how to do it:

  1. Upload this file, gatag.js (right click > save as), to your website
  2. Add the following JavaScript code before the Google Analytics tracking code:

    <script src="http://www.yoursite.com/_files/file.php?filename=file_gatag.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

NOTE: This assumes the name of the file after insertion is file_gatag.js. If it's different, eg. file_2_gatag.js, then use this name instead.
  3. Now you'll need to publish all of your designs. (This assumes you've already inserted analytics and re-published your entire site.)

The following file extensions will be tracked:

doc, eps, jpg, png, svg, xls, ppt, pdf, xls, zip, txt, vsd, vxd, js, css, rar, exe, wma, mov, avi, wmv, mp3
