The Document Tree

WebPal CMS is structured in a hierarchical manner using a Document Tree; at the highest level you have a chapter called "The Content", which is coincidentally, all your content. Within this you will find all of your top level chapters, and within these chapters there can of course be further chapters which outline the basic framework of navigation.

A Chapter = A Page

When we use the term chapter we are in actuality speaking about a page on your site. Each chapter is a page. The name of that page is based on the "Name" attribute for that chapter. For instance, the "About Us" chapter for which you have given the title "about" can be found here:

http://www.mydomain.com/about

If you had a sub level to About Us, for instance - Board of Directors (For which you have given the title "board") and Mission Statement (For which you have given the title "mission"), these pages could be found here:

http://www.mydomain.com/about/board

http://www.mydomain.com/about/mission

Locating Content

Based on the explanation above you can find content that you need to edit based on the URL of the page. For instance, if I needed to edit the "How To Add Content" page of this site:

http://support.palominosys.com/webpal/basic_how_to/addcontent/index.html

I know that I would need to go to the chapter "webpal" which would contain the chapter "basic_how_to" which in turn would contain the chapter "addcontent".

Note that index.html just references the default content for a chapter. These 2 URLs would return the same result:

http://www.mydomain.com/about/index.html

http://www.mydomain.com/about
