Creating a New Email Campaign

To create a new email campaign:

Step 1: Create a Campaign

Click on the "Create Email Campaign" button.

Step 2: Campaign Details

Provide details for the new campaign:

Email Campaign Name: This is the unique name of the campaign. This name will only be used in WebPal EMS and as such will only be visible to you.

Email Campaign Format: The default for this is set to "HTML and Text". You can of course change this based on the type of subscribers you have.

Email Template: If you would like to use an existing template, whether one of your own or one of the built in Global Templates, you can select the appropriate template here.

Once complete, hit "Next"

Step 3: Create Content

Create your new campaign by modifying, or adding, to a template. (If necessary) The only required field in this step is to provide your campaign with an "Email Subject". This is the "Subject" field of the email that your subscribers will see in their inbox. Other items of interest are as follows:

WYSIWG Editor

See the section called "WYSIWYG Editor: Tips and Tricks".

Attachments

This field allows you to upload an attachment to send along with your newsletter. WARNING: Please be conscious of the size of the file you're sending! It is not recommended sending any file over 1MB to a group of users. This will take significantly more time and significantly more bandwidth.

Miscellaneous Options

  • Activate Email Campaign: Should this email campaign be marked as active? Inactive email campaigns cannot be sent to a mailing list and must be approved first.
  • Archive Email Campaign: Should this email campaign be archived? If so, it will appear in t he archived for the mailing list being sent to. You can then publish the archives on your website so your visitors can read them.

Send Preview

Send preview allows you to send an email to yourself to see its basic look and feel. This feature is not as useful as creating a test list because it puts together the emails in the same way, but links aren't tracked, open image isn't added, unsubscribe link isn't converted and the custom fields are not converted. Overall it is more practical to create a test Mailing List and send your newly created campaign to this list to get a true idea of how it will appear.
